Positive psychology is the scientific study of human strengths and virtues. It uses
psychological theory, scientific research and evidence-based interventions to
understand and improve human well-being. This program examines a variety of
psychological concepts that fall under the broad umbrella of positive psychology:
positive emotions, personal strengths and virtues, gratitude, mindfulness, growth
mindset, and grit.
Throughout this eight-week program, students will engage in
learning the science of positive psychology and how to increase their own well-being
using research-based interventions.

What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a gentle and meditative style of yoga that focuses on stretching and holding poses for extended periods, typically 3 to 5 minutes. This allows the body to release deeply held tension in the connective tissues—such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia. Unlike more dynamic forms of yoga, Yin Yoga is slow-paced, making it accessible for beginners and those looking for a calming practice. The long holds and deep stretches help to improve flexibility, increase circulation, and cultivate a sense of inner peace.
What is Reiki with Tuning Forks?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. It involves the transfer of energy through the practitioner's hands to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body's natural healing processes. In this workshop, Reiki is enhanced with the use of tuning forks, which emit specific sound frequencies that help to balance the body's energy centers, known as chakras. The combination of Reiki and tuning forks works synergistically to deepen relaxation, clear energetic blockages, and harmonize your physical and emotional well-being.
The Science Behind Yin Yoga and Reiki
Research supports the benefits of both Yin Yoga and Reiki. Studies have shown that Yin Yoga can increase flexibility, improve joint mobility, and reduce stress levels by activating the parasympathetic nervous system—the body's "rest and digest" mode. Additionally, it has been found to enhance circulation and stimulate the body's meridians, which are pathways of energy flow, similar to those targeted in acupuncture.
Reiki has been the subject of numerous studies that highlight its ability to reduce anxiety, alleviate pain, and enhance overall quality of life, particularly in individuals dealing with chronic conditions. The use of tuning forks in energy healing is also backed by research, which suggests that sound therapy can help to regulate the nervous system and improve emotional balance.
